Wow...it's been awhile since we've posted. :( But at least we have somewhat of a good excuse...excuses.
1) We had to pack up in the middle of the coldest winter in forever to move to a new home because the owner of the house we were renting returned from the military and got engaged (how dare he?) and he wanted his house back...and Traveling Mama got super sick in the middle of all of it and ended up in the ER (she's all good now). The good news is: a) Rent & Utilities are about 1/4 of what were were paying there. b) It's a small, with a capital S, place! Tiny. Itsy. And still much much much larger than the RV...so we are learning to function in a tighter space. The bad news is: Mama is getting impatient and is threatening to make us live in tents should the RV not be completed soon. There are some crazy awesome glamping tents out there we could live in...but they'd probably end up costing more than an RV!
2) Traveling Dad has to have back surgery. We've tried every other therapy there is...to no avail. So, back pain = little work getting done on the RV. The plan is for a summer surgery and a fall depature?
Our calendar says November 1st = Maiden Voyage. But, it's written in pencil because things change no matter how much planning and prep we do.
We got rid of a lot of stuff when we moved. Some went to other family members, some was donated. And yet we still have a ton of stuff. A ton. Maybe 2 tons. How do humans manage to hoard so much stuff? Boxes and boxes of stuff crammed into our carport. What is even in those boxes? We've been happily living without anything from within those boxes for months now. What could be in there that we could possibly need?
Speaking of stuff and having way too much of it...we watched a documentary about minimalism. Traveling Mama has kinda been in this mindset of "What's the point of working so hard to just pay bills, sleep, eat, and do it all again the next day." Which is a huge part of why we are planning to travel. Life should be an adventure, not a race to see who has the most stuff. Anyway, if you want to know more about minimalism you should totally check out The Minimalists.
And, finally, we are going to do our best to at least post weekly...and keep your fingers crossed for that November 1 departure!
